The 4-time State Champion Oviedo Men's Wrestling Team traveled to Lake Highland Preparatory High School in downtown Orlando on 27-28 November 2009 to participate in the O'Town Show Down, an outdoor Thanksgiving holiday tournament competed on the school football field layered with 16 mats. This outstanding tournament featured three separate events - a Varsity Duals Tournament, a Junior Varsity Tournament, and a USA Wrestling Kids Tournament.

• Oviedo opens up the season going 8-0 as a team; 107-5 in total individual dual matches, with 68 of the individual wins ending early by pin.
• Twelve wrestlers open their 2009-10 campaign with perfect marks - Anthony Espinosa, Corey Ray, Joey Hefley, Justin Gorinac, Nick McLean, Ray Rowland, Michael Alpert, Chase Gordon, Lee Wildes, Erin O'Dell, Jay Taylor, and Doug Vollaro.
• Jay Taylor with 8 pins, Erin O'Dell and Doug Vollaro with 7 each, and Anthony Espinosa and Lee Wildes with 6 of their own set out early in the season on pace to challenge the team record of pins in a season held by former State Champion and USA Wrestling National Champion Kenny Lester (35).
• Joey Hefley, Justin Gorinac, Nick McLean, Chase Gordon, Alton Meeks, and Doug Vollaro racked up all their pin wins in the first period.
• USA Wrestling All-American (Fargo) Doug Vollaro had this week's quickest pin for Oviedo in 7 seconds. 
• Senior, University of Oklahoma-bound Chase Gordon earned Outstanding Wrestler (Heavy) honors.
