Oviedo claims tourney title

The Oviedo wrestling team easily won the Ron Peters Tournament of Champions Saturday at Lake Mary.

The Lions racked up a score of 226 points. Niceville placed second with 148.5. Dr. Phillips (145), Winter Springs (118) and Edgewater (107.5) rounded out the top five.

Joey Hefley (112 pounds), Stephon Jenkins (125), Lee Wildes (152) and Davin Morris (171) all won individual titles for Oviedo.

Winter Springs' Matt Neriem (135), who recorded his 100th win in the event, was named the tournament's top lightweight. University's T.J. Sturgeon (189) was the top heavyweight.
