Oviedo High School senior Tyler Davis has committed to attend college and
wrestle for the University of Wyoming. The Cowboys are a NCAA Division
I program with the campus located in Laramie, Wyoming.
A Team Captain, Davis capped off his outstanding Oviedo wrestling career
this past season with an individual State Championship at 145 lbs in the 3A
big schools division with 40 wins on the season--the most on his team. A
four year varsity wrestler at Oviedo, Tyler finished his chapter as a Lion
grappler with 154 career wins and 17 individual tournament championship
titles, as well as earning USA Wrestling (Fargo) All-American honors in both
freestyle and Greco-roman. He finishes his career at Oviedo as a member of
four consecutive State Championship teams--the first time in Florida high
school wrestling history that a big school division team has won four
consecutive State Championships. In the classroom Tyler is an honor roll
student with a 3.6 GPA, as well as being selected all four years to the
Seminole Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
