Two Oviedo Wrestlers Ink NCAA Division I Wrestling Scholarships  11-8-05
With the NCAA Division I early signing period for wrestling underway as of
November 8th, two Oviedo High School standout wrestlers have already
verbally committed to continue their education and to wrestle at Arizona
State University in Tempe, Arizona.

David Green and Kenny Lester will officially sign full scholarship offers on
Wednesday morning to make official the verbal commitments they made to
Arizona State Head Coach Thom Ortiz earlier this week.

Green, last year's Florida 3A State Champion at 189 pounds, and a Fargo
All-American (Greco-Roman) this past summer narrowed his choice of schools
to Virginia Tech, Missouri, Penn State, and the University of
Tennessee--Chattanooga prior to settling in as a Sun Devil. His high school
record at Oviedo is 111-20 as he heads into his senior campaign. He enters
his senior year as the 6th ranked wrestler in the nation at 189 pounds (all
grades) by Amateur Wrestling News (AWN).

Lester enters his senior year as Oviedo's 275 pound wrestling starter--the
same spot he has held since his freshman year. He also opens that same
campaign as AWN's number one ranked wrestler in the nation at 275 (all
grades). Also a returning State Champion, Lester was a double All-American
this past summer (Greco-Roman and Freestyle) in Fargo. Prior to settling on
Arizona State, he paid visits to Columbia, Lehigh, Minnesota, and Virginia
Tech. His career record at Oviedo is 132-25 with 89 pins. He holds the
school record for pins in a season at 35 and is just 25 shy of also owning
the career record that currently stands at 113.

Both Green and Lester will join former Oviedo teammate (class of 2005) and
current Sun Devil freshman Jason Robbins next season in Tempe. It is
Jason's record of 113 career pins that Kenny has in the cross-hairs as this
new season emerges.

Arizona State enters the 2005-06 collegiate season ranked 11th nationally in
the AWN Pre-Season Polls.
